Frequently Asked Questions

I see the same Hearing Aids offered by High Street chains, how do your prices compare?

Yes, we do sell the exact same hearing aids you will see advertised by many High St. chains. The hearing aids are the same makes and models of hearing aids advertised, the same quality and the same manufacturer's warranty, but at a much lower cost to you.

We are almost always able to beat the prices quoted by the High Street chains, sometimes by a considerable amount. We have excellent long established relationships with the leading manufacturers, from who we source our hearing aids directly.

Should I consider getting my hearing tested by the NHS?

Certainly, if you have experienced any form of rapid deterioration in your hearing, or suffer from any other problems relating to your ears, you should see your GP immediately.

Your G.P. may then refer you to your local NHS Audiology or ENT Department, as there could be a medical reason for your hearing loss or discomfort that requires further investigation.

But remember, that if you find that you appear to need hearing aids, the service and options available to you under the NHS is not nearly as comprehensive, nor as personalised. The range of hearing aids available are limited and most NHS trusts will only provide a hearing aid to one ear only, due to cost, which experts agree is a minimal solution. This is certainly not a solution that we would ever recommend, as you will always hear far better using two ears rather than one.

I already have an NHS hearing aid. What can you offer me?

As an independent hearing aid audiologist with many years experience working with the leading manufacturers of hearing aids, we can offer you a far greater range of styles, much more advanced technology and in almost all cases, a considerably improved hearing quality.

My NHS supplied hearing aid isn't working properly, can you get it repaired?

If your hearing aid was supplied by the NHS, then your first action must be to contact your local NHS Audiology Department. They will be able to effect a repair or supply a new hearing aid.

I didn't buy my hearing aid from you but can you offer me replacement batteries or a repair service?

Yes to both questions. We can arrange repairs to all makes of hearing aid apart from those that are supplied to you under the NHS. We will gladly give you a quotation for the cost of any repair. Click here for more information.

We supply all types of hearing aid battery at very competitive prices. You can download an order form from this website by clicking here, or simply contact us by telephone.

How long is the warranty on my hearing aid if I purchase it through Sounds Better Hearingcare?

Manufacturer's warranties are for TWO YEARS. However, we can also offer you an extended warranty for up to a maximum of five years. Our audiologist will explain the benefits of this once we have completed your hearing test and discussed the different types of hearing aids available to you.
